Music Monday | 11/12/18

I must start by wishing every American a Happy Veteran's Day and I also want to extend a very heartfelt "thank you" to every veteran who has served our Nation to protect our freedoms. Yesterday was Armistice Day, which had me in a very grateful mindset already, and with Thanksgiving just around the corner, I figured I'd make today's Music Monday a theme of gratitude. So here we go!

The one song that comes to mind which most perfectly encapsulates a strong theme of gratitude and honor for those we hold dear with an inherent patriotism, is the track "Hear You Me" by Jimmy Eat World, off of the aptly-named 2001 album "Bleed American" which came out just a few weeks before the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. While music was often an escape to not have to think about the events of the day, the emotions invoked by this song in particular were so raw and real that the track was more of a head-on mechanism for coping with loss in the aftermath of tragedy. If you aren't familiar with this album, you should be - it is fantastic from start to finish.

The rest of these songs are not quite as meaningful to me, but they are just songs I've enjoyed over the years that have to do with gratitude. On that note, I want to say thank you so much for reading and listening!
